Appeal

It seems that everyone is eagerly waiting for the result. Much as we want to expedite the process, let us not forget that those who are involved are all VOLUNTEERS. It is unfair that we harass them too much.

Rest assure, that even if this is a VOLUNTARY work, we will try our best to squeeze it in our respective REGULAR jobs so as to publish the result soon.  PEACE!

Good day ma'am! We would like to request the MTAP committee to make an honest investigation about a possible leakage of answers to a certain school (St. Patrick School of Novaliches). They took the exam at Good Shepherd Cathedral School (Fairview) and their students have a noticeable speed in taking the test and their scores range from 47- 50 in all levels. They actually ranked 1st among all the schools who took the exam in the same venue. We would be very happy for their achievement if it would be proven that they had an honest contest. Thank you very much! More powers to MTAP.

Good Day. Just want to ask dadriano where did you get the information that st. patrick school got the scores of 47-50? My nephew studies at the said school and he's one of the students that took the exam at Good Sheperd Cathedral School but his parents didn't have any idea what's the score. Just hurt about that issue because everyday my nephew reviews at the school after class then at the evening he review with his mother 'til 11pm. But now there's rumor that their school has a leakage of the exam? Any way as I said, I'm just asking.

John said...

@ dadriano: Possible leakage or leakage per se is very likely to exist even at the Oral Contest Rounds. Imagine, the quizmaster is still reading the questions... may sagot na agad without even bothering to pretend they are computing sana coz it's not Easy round and unless you are a calculator eh medyo malabo yung speed nila. hahaha tinalo yung may leak na team ang lahat ng chinese schools that particular year. The next year, that leaky school was not a top performer both in written & oral rounds so lalong naging obvious tuloy. Cheers! Sana baguhin lahat ng questions this year para patas ang laban.

Unknown said...

Now that the scores for St. PAtrick are up, they did get quite a number of first honors. Which is good for them actually. I commend their preparatinos and all.

But MTAP should really do an honest investigation on this. This site has a record of the school performance from 2006 to present, and St. Patrick hasn't figured prominently in the Area 2, let alone in the Sector.

No offense meant to anybody, but this definitely elicits suspicions. Not only does it elicit suspicions, but likewise fear and disappointment to other teams who worked hard, even enrolled in MTG only to be clouded with allegations like this.

@ Unknown: I agree with your comment. Dapat nga may investigation. Pati Falcon tinalo nya ng todo-todo.

MTAP... this is not the first time na may leak.

John said...

@ ivanA: Sorry to know that your nephew is wrongly suspected of benefiting from the leak, but sabi nga ni @ Unknown: eh may history kasi ang mga bata dito sa MTAP.

Fix your questions!"

the best that St. Patrick can do is to share the so-called website they used for reviewing. All of us here will salute St. Patrick for their generosity at para matapos na ang domination ng mga Area 1 schools... yun lang naman ang lamang nila sa ibang Areas, A good collection of years and years of MTAP questions.

I will be happy if St. Patrick rule this year's MTAP!

Lets give St. Patrick School of Novaliches the benefit of the doubt. The student just played their part (as to which they were really trained hard or feed with the same sets of questions)

They still have the chance to prove themselves that they have had a clean fight by waiting the Area Orals Team Competition and the Regional Individual (written) Competition which i am sure they will fly high with colors just like their showed off performance in the Elimination Round which shocks most of us trainers.

Lets accept the fact that incidents like this really happens (possible leakage)for the MTAP Elimination Round were not done simultaneously (some division have it on the 20th while the others have it on the 21st. Lets just call the attention of the MTAP Committee whose in charge of this instead of blaming those who benefited from this lapses.

Lastly, stop posting words/statements that will later lead on damaging the integrity and prestige of the MTAP, lets look forward and take this as lessons learned so that it will never happen again ...

MORE POWER TO MTAP !!!

SEE YOU TO THE NEXT lEVEL OF THE COMPETITION ...

For some reason, i tried some researching and this is what i found. I only used this website for reference.

this pertains to St. Patrick School of Novaliches and the allegations of cheating hurled against the students and the school.

Below are the links for their performances the past year.

2011 No elementary student from St. Patrick got any Merit awards.
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2011/01/area-4-bscc-testing-center.html

2010 - 2 students from Grade2 qualified for Individual Regional Finals
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2010/01/update.html

2009 - 3 grade5 students got merit awards (1 2nd honors, 2 3rd honors)
2 Grade6 (3rd honors)
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2009/01/2009-metrobank-mtap-dep-ed-math.html

2008 - No finalist and no merit awardee
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2008/02/elementary-merit-awardees.html
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2008/01/metrobank-mtap-2008-deped-math.html

2007 - No finalist, no merit awardees
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2007/01/2007-metrobank-mtap-deped-ncr-math.html

2006 - 1 Grade5 Third honors
http://mtapncrprivate.blogspot.com/2006/01/merit-awardees-grade-5_29.html

Now, the big questions are ...
1) Reviewing 24x7 is the only secret to achieve this unprecedented feat? Even the popular chinese schools haven't made results similar to this.
2) Perhaps, an overhaul of their preparation strategy, intense math program?

Even more curious is
1) How will they perform in the orals.
a. if they win, won't the results elicit suspicions again and put a big question mark in their victory
b. if they lose, what happened with the first-rate students and why the dismal performance?

Not only this allegation puts a taint in St. Patrick's reputation, but more importantly with the MTAP reputation too. If this will not be investigated and cleared up, it defeats the very purpose of hardwork and honest-to-goodness preparation and review and all. Worse, parents and other school will think about joining and fielding in students next time if this will not be cleared up.

Kawawa ang mga bata. Para silang mga headless kids na naglalakad. Manalo, matalo, ang isyu ng pandaraya puts a shame in their name, their school and even in their future.

Everybody, i am a sucker for underdog stories. Kung ako lang, i would have wanted students from less popular schools to win and shine.

John said...

@ Unknown: I salute you!

But... pwede rin naman may leakage sa Regional Individual Finals and Oral Rounds!

I also wants non-Chinese schools to win for a change but MTAP giving priority treament to Public schools to get into National Rounds is uncomprehensible because why should it be this way this year when the rule used to be Top 2 of each Region.

Why only NCR? dapat all regions na lang. Why not Top 2 from both Private & Public schools from each regions?

Tsk tsk di na nga kami nakapasok PMO baka pati MTAP National Finals mawala pa.

Unknown said...

i agree with dadriano. we were proctors during the elims and we were also there during the checking of papers along with the center coordinator and representatives of participating schools. st. patrick had a very suspicious behavior while taking the test.

just to give everyone curious a piece of information: Public schools had their eliminations Jan. 20, private schools had it Jan. 21. we've learned that the pricipal of st. patrick school of novaliches is also working at rosa susano elementary school. it's something to think about.. :)

Unknown said...

we are sorry for dropping the name of a suspicious school here, for we thought that the owner of this blog site wont approve that comment to be seen publicly. yet we think that it is also a way for everyone who thinks the same, i think the're just waiting for someone to break the silence. :) let this be a way to clear things up, and not to put a blame on anyone especially the children.

Unknown said...

if public schools would have the oral finals earlier than the private schools, i think there would be a possible leakage again.

we're not accusing st. patrick, we just want it to be investigated for it is a shocking story. kahit kau ang lumugar sa ganito i am sure you would also be curious and would do the same..

@santillan yes grade 1 pupils also attend the training sessions but it is so surprising for a first grader to have a score of 49/50. what a talented student they have! :)

NTGB said...

Oh my God.

I was really impressed with Rosa Susano ES making it in every grade level most of the time. But now, i better reserve my clap and salute to those whose reputation is untarnished.

Kakalungkot naman ito. What's the point of doing this? To further a school's reputation? Reputation as cheaters is all they'll get!

ivanA said...

@unknown ; good day sir. maybe we can schedule a meeting and i'll introduce you to the student with the score of 49/50, you're free to test his skills for you to tell yourself, so you can sleep well at night.
And 2nd, why you're so bitter about the results? do you have a child whose passed over by the the student of st. patrick? don't tell me you're only concern about it?

Unknown said...

@NTGB in all fairness to Rosa Susano ES, they have very bright students in math. They also attend regular MTG training and they show consistency in their performances. I should know, I was once an MTG trainer.. :-)

Jake said...

Do not be such imbecile persons. Giving an accusation does not help in building a person's self esteem. I am one of those participants you're buzzing about. St. Patrick School of Novaliches excels in mathematics. Why? Because of the great teachers. And I, a sophomore math enthusiast, assure you that there is no leakage of answers during the said elimination. Hence, we think you shall stop giving false accusations. As said in the bible, "Ang unang pumukol ng bato ay siyang walang kasalanan". Thanks. (ZRF)

dennis apacible said...

@ unknown write a formal complaint dont show your bitterness here ..
wag mo idamay ang grade 1 na bata na walang kamalay malay ..write to the commitee proctor / teacher ka do your ethiquettes lam mo ang mga SOP..may reklamo ka dun mo ireklamo sa MTAP commitee.

John said...

@ Jake: Read your comment... watch your words... now, you are really showing the MTAP crowd what type of people St. Patrick has! Congrats! You win!!!

NTGB said...

Kindly answer this question.

I believe, every year, they always do a 6-week MTAP review as a preparation for this contest.

Why then St. Patrick never made results like this is the past? They've been sending the same srudents pero how come they didnt perform well before. Say yung grade6 nila, 6 years nang well-trained and mentored and all, bakit ni hindi nakakuha ng third honor merits kahit minsan? And now they suddenly get high scores? Come on! Napakadubious ng ganitong feat.

At dahil halos lahat kami ay never nainvolve sa cheating at hindi piniling mag-cheat to move ahead, kaya kami nagpupukol ng mga tanong nauntilnow hindi nyo naman masagot.

NTGB said...

About Rosa Susano ES, i'm pretty sure thekids are honest-to-goodness very good. I became a fan when i frst got into this MTAP thingy and learned of their previous performances.

But now that a teacher, who is a principal of another school, is dragged into a controversy of cheating, their reputation is now tainted dahil sa kagagawan ng iba.

Funny nga eh. Kung sino yung public school, sila yung nagpoproduce ng impressive results ad still silently proud of it. Unlike some private school, dubious yung feat yet they are proud of it. Talk about blind fanaticism.

ivanA said...

O_o said...

@ Ivan.

John said...

@ O_o: I agree with you!

@O_o

Pedro said...

@ ivanA

Kawawa yung ibang bata na hindi nakapasok sa individuals and teams finals dahil sa nangyaring posibleng dayaan, when they actually deserve to be there.

Peace.

Unknown said...

A teacher noted an unusual speed by the St. Patrick contestants in answering the questions.
Had they gotten the same results but done in a more discreet manner, it wouldn't have elicited suspicions. Maybe, it's also imperative to ask MTAP for the scratch papers used by the contestants to show if they had solutions to problems.

It will definitely be incredible if the kids are so good that they solved everything mentally! Then i should enroll my kid in that program!

ivanA said...

@ unknown; hi! as i said pwede taung mag set ng meeting with that particular student. para maliwanagan ka. i think it's not only the school it's the child. thanks.

ivanA said...

@pretty girl

madaming unknown dito.

Pero one thing is sure --- we were not pointing to the kids as the culprit to this mess. The truth is, sila ang biktima (which has been consistently regarded) because of SOME ADULTS WANTING THEIR PRESENCE IN THE FINALS SA HINDI TAMANG PARAAN. If you will just back-read, you will realize the pity felt by the people here towards the kids of that school. Again, the accusations are levelled directly to the school officials and even coaches, never to the kids.

And unfortunately, the after-effects wont end this year. Definitely, next year, all eyes will be on that school. At even worse, "damn if they do get to the finals, and damn again if they don't".

Kaya payo sa mga magulang at teachers, wag natin i-feed ng maling diskarte ang mga bata just to gain honor. It's not honorable in the first place. Let them value the honest-to-goodness fruit of hard labor and delayed gratification.

marcos said...
